Movie review - The Forbidden Kingdom
First of all, anyone who had watched the trailler would know that it is an Hollywood kind of film, not the Hong Kong kind because of the language spoken - English. Well, the only big question on everyone's mind would be - Why are they speaking English in this oldern chinese era? Sad to say, it is not explained in the movie(haha).
Story is about this random American boy who loves those classic Hong Kong kung-fu movies, but has no such skills whatsoever. So he happen to be this guy(seeker), who will find the magical pole/stuff use by the monkey king(Jet Li), and return it to him, to free him. Cos he is now a stone statue. And along the way comes a drunken guy(Jackie Chan), a chio bu who just wants to kill the Jade Emperor(Collin) and a monk(Jet Li, again), to aid him. Haha, nice story eh~ I'm trying not to spoil anything. Haha.
Anyway, who cares about the storyline? Everyone who catches this movie just has one thing in mind - to see Jackie vs Jet or the both of them teaming up, doing some kung fu stuff. And for that part, it was great. The scene where the both stars face with each other was nice. The film's action choreographer is none other then Yuen Woo-ping(The Matrix trilogy, Fearless), one of my favourite, so its bound to be nice:p
The bottomline is, its worth it if you like action movies, especially by any of the two stars. Storyline is not that bad, is just that I cant get over that English thing. So ya, go catch it.:)
7.5/10
